The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC)

The Early Years Department at AIS is fully accredited to teach the International Early Years Curriculum.
The IEYC is a curriculum devised by experts in the field of child development. The IEYC provides a framework of learning goals which are progressive and map the child's development across four core strands.
Learning is explorative, playful and hands on. Our curriculum is play-based and centred through a holistic approach. Children learn through Continuous Provision Play. Our teachers create an environment that enriches and caters to the unique learning journey of each child. The children's curiosity is captured through their interests. The indoor and outdoor environment is then enabled based on these interests.
Learning is created through themes. These are chosen based on the children's interests and needs. Each unit begins with an 'Entry Point' and finishes with an 'Exit Point'. Four to five units will be completed within the school year. They have each been chosen to ensure that all of the Early Years Learning Strands are explored over the course of the year.
Here are some example units:

The Big Picture
We learn and play together, supporting one another as we explore and experience new things every day. We have lots in common, but there are also lots of things about ourselves that make us special. Together, we are going to be learning about ourselves and each other and celebrating what we have learned with our families.

The Big Picture
Look out of the window. What is the weather doing today? Will it be the same tomorrow or the day after that? Weather can change all the time. It can be raining, snowing, windy or sunny. There are lots of different types of weather and each one can make a big difference to what we can do, what we wear and even how we feel. Weather happens everywhere in the world and it’s what makes where we live special. As we become weather watchers and learn more about the weather, we will discover there’s lots of fun to be had, whatever the weather!
