A Message from the Principal
Atherton International School is a unique school. The first school on this site was founded in the 1980s. It was originally built to educate the international families contracted to the shipbuilding industry in the small town of Okpo on the beautiful South Korean island of Geoje (Koje).
We are a small school which provides a welcoming family atmosphere to students and parents. We were pleased to have this confirmed by CIS in the school accreditation report in May 2021 "The schools culture is warm, friendly and positive, an observation emphatically shared by all constituents." |
AIS is an inclusive, international learning community for children from the age of 2 to 18. We provide an education which promotes academic achievement, social responsibility and global awareness.
Our academic program is based on the British National Curriculum, delivered through the International Early Years, Primary and Middle Years thematic approach. Our high school students follow the British Cambridge IGCSE and A Level programmes which prepares students for university. We recognise that some students will choose to study in the US and therefore we also fully prepare them to access US universities via the SAT assessment route.
Our secondary students work towards the William Pike Challenge Award and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to develop social awareness and personal resilience.
AIS students and teachers take pride in their school. We are a passionate learning community. AIS students are confident learners who are willing to challenge themselves to achieve their best; they are resilient and determined to succeed. AIS students demonstrate compassion and empathy towards each other and enjoy being part of the AIS community.
The information on our website offers a small window into our school. If you would like to find out more we look forward to hearing from you.
