[Atherton News] What Did Our Children Learn This Week? 🌟

📖 Language Arts

This week, we began diving into the structure of explanation texts using the wonderful book, How Beans Grow. The students created their own interactive "explanation maps" to visualize the lifecycle process and practiced constructing high-quality sentences using the connective word "when."

🔢 Maths

In Maths, students took their exciting first steps into the world of Money. They enjoyed closely examining different coin denominations to learn their names and values. Through these hands-on activities, they began developing essential real-world skills by recognizing and comparing the quantitative values of different coins.

🌲 Science

In Science, we explored the wonders of nature by learning about evergreen trees that keep their vibrant green color all year round. The students engaged in an exciting sorting activity, classifying plant cards to intuitively understand the key differences between deciduous and evergreen trees.

⛵ History & Project (Integrated Learning)

In History, we proudly launched our highly anticipated new unit: "The Famous Explorers"! The students were absolutely captivated by the remarkable life, courage, and adventures of Christopher Columbus.

To bring this history to life, students engaged in a hands-on Project class where they hand-crafted detailed physical models of the three legendary ships from the landmark 1492 expedition: the Santa María, the Pinta, and the Niña. It was wonderful to see them recreate these historic vessels with such pride and care!

Our students show up every day with sparkling eyes, ready to learn and grow. Please join us in giving them warm encouragement for their amazing efforts this week!

We look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you next week.
