We offer systematic stages all the way up to Year 13, delivering internationally accredited programs including the IEYC, IPC, IMYC, IGCSE, AS-level, and A-level curriculum. Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to Atherton International School.
For me, education begins with two very simple questions: Do children feel safe, supported and happy at school?
And are they learning and making good progress?
If those things are in place, children can grow in confidence, develop strong relationships and begin to discover their own strengths and interests. At AIS, we work hard to create a school where students feel supported and challenged, but also genuinely enjoy coming to school each day.
AIS is a warm and diverse international community, with students and teachers from many different parts of the world. We provide an international education from the early years through to secondary school, including Cambridge IGCSE and A Level programmes. Academic achievement is important to us, but education is about more than examination results. We want our students to develop confidence, resilience and curiosity, while learning how to contribute positively to the community around them.
Our mission, “Empowering every learner to flourish through the Power of Possibility,” reflects what we hope for every child at AIS. Every student is different, and part of our responsibility as educators is to help young people discover what they are capable of and encourage them to aim high.
One of the things I value most about AIS is the close relationship between our students, teachers and families. Being a smaller international school means that we can really know our students as individuals. Teachers notice when a child is doing particularly well, when they need some additional support, or simply when something doesn't seem quite right. That sense of community and belonging is an important part of who we are.
As Principal, I want AIS to maintain high academic standards while remaining a happy and balanced place for young people. Learning should be engaging, purposeful and appropriately challenging, but children should also enjoy their childhood, develop friendships and have opportunities to explore their interests beyond the classroom.

Average Class Size of 12-15 students.
AIS is a unique, small school of between 100 and 150 students from nursery to age 18, which provides a warm welcome to students and their families.
Over 18 Different Nationalities
AIS is an inclusive, international learning community with over 18 different nationalities represented amongst the students and faculty. We provide an education which promotes academic achievement, social responsibility and global awareness.
Based on British National Curriculum
Our academic program in Early Years, Primary and Middle School is based on the British National Curriculum, delivered through the International Early Years (iEYC), Primary (iPC) and Middle Years (iMYC) thematic approach. High School students follow the Cambridge International Curriculum towards IGCSE and A Levels.
Outdoor Expeditions
Our secondary students also work towards the William Pike Challenge Award and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to develop social awareness and personal resilience.
