A Cosy Concert in Junggok-dong
Last Sunday, twelve of Ms YoungMi’s students put on a lovely piano recital at a cosy café in Junggok-dong. Playing on a beautiful Steinway, the music filled the space and gave each piece an amazingly rich sound. Our performers each took their turn with confidence and care. It was clear how much effort they had put into their playing, and it was great to see them enjoying the moment as well. Ms YoungMi also treated everyone to a Debussy piece, which was a real highlight of the

New Structure to Strengthen Learning
Next year we will introduce a small timetable change designed to strengthen learning and create a more balanced school day at Atherton International School. Lessons will move from 45 minutes to 50 minutes, creating six lessons each day instead of seven shorter periods. Teachers often find that 45 minutes can feel quite rushed, especially when lessons include explanation, discussion, practice, and checking understanding. The slightly longer lesson blocks will allow learning to

Learning in Action
Over the past few weeks, in Year 10/11, students have been brushing up on different sentence types and trying them out in their own writing. It’s been a good way to build confidence and add a bit more variety to their sentences. The class also looked at monologues and talked about how a writer’s voice comes through. Alongside this, they’ve been busy working on their partner projects, researching ideas, designing slides, and getting ready to present together. Nice work Ms. Glo

Resilience in Action: Year 7 Phoenix Assembly
Last Friday's whole school assembly was led by our Year 7 Phoenix class, and they did a fantastic job. It was great to see them take charge of the theme of resilience and share their ideas in such a confident and relaxed way. They reminded us that resilience is not just about facing big challenges. It’s also about the small moments, trying again when something feels difficult, learning from mistakes, and not giving up too quickly. The students spoke clearly, involved the audi

Cooking Club: Fried Rice
This week in the Cooking Club, students whipped up an easy week-night staple: fried rice! There's no better way to use up leftover rice than tossing it in a hot pan with some stir-fried vegetables and eggs. The students demonstrated excellent chopping skills to prepare the vegetables and layered lots of complex flavor with the addition of fried onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil and seeds.

Learning in Action
In Year 6 last week, students got a small taste of what computing will look like next year. They wrote their very first programs in Python and had fun figuring out how to fix small syntax mistakes, especially in the print commands. A few even pushed themselves further by experimenting with variables and changing parts of their code to see what would happen. It was lovely to see them thinking things through, helping each other, and feeling proud when their programs finally wor
