A Heartfelt Lesson! With a Pig’s heart

Our Hydra class recently welcomed the Wolves (Year 6) for a memorable Biology lesson… a pig heart dissection! It was a fantastic hands-on experience that really brought learning to life. The Wolves are just beginning their unit on the circulatory system, so it was a great chance for them to see a real heart up close and understand how it works.
The Hydra students did a brilliant job guiding and supporting the younger pupils, confidently sharing their knowledge and helping them explore each part of the heart. There were a few mixed reactions (as you might expect!), but plenty of curiosity, bravery, and even excitement along the way!
A big thank you to Ms. Kallie for organising such an engaging activity and to Ms. Lorna for her support. It was a great example of learning, teamwork, and stepping a little outside of comfort zones!
