In Year 6 last week, students got a small taste of what computing will look like next year. They wrote their very first programs in Python and had fun figuring out how to fix small syntax mistakes, especially in the print commands. A few even pushed themselves further by experimenting with variables and changing parts of their code to see what would happen. It was lovely to see them thinking things through, helping each other, and feeling proud when their programs finally worked. Nice work Ms Kallie!

To wrap up their WWII resistance newsletter work, students stepped back in time and tried cooking a few wartime ration recipes. They made a raisin loaf along with a simple potato and carrot mash, and the results were better than many expected. There was plenty of curiosity about how people managed with limited ingredients, and lots of proud smiles once everything was ready to taste. Hopefully some of it made its way home for families to try as well. Thank you. Ms. Lorna!

In the Kraken class, students their knowledge of least common denominators to solve problems accurately. They then stretched themselves further with trickier word problems that combined fractions and decimals using all four operations. There was plenty of careful thinking and checking
along the way. Working hard with Ms. Brindha!
